Media Relations

I know how to wow journalists, whether that’s through unforgettable experiences, innovative pitches, or hosting events they’ll still be talking about weeks later.

From in-market Events and conventions to press trips, I love forming relationships with media

I’ve hosted 3-5 group FAMs annually during my years at Destination Marketing Organizations, plus dozens of individual press trips in between. These included national journalists from top travel outlets as well as regional target media.

Media receptions are always better with an activity, like Pickleball lessons in Portland, or an organic wine tasting at the flagship Filson store. These are events I organized from top to bottom, each hosting ~20 target media and including up to four partner businesses. Each event included take-home gifts that resonated with the brand, not just swag with a logo slapped on.

Travel conventions and other events play a vital role in my networking process, forming new relationships to build from in future media pitching and hosting.

About Cory

Born in Orlando, At Home in Seattle

Driven by Community

I am fortunate to have an incredibly supportive group of close friends. In early 2022, we visited Seattle on vacation together, and fell in love with the region. We started talking seriously about moving to the PNW. I had worked at Visit Orlando for eight years by then, and was ready for a change. I happened to find an opening that summer at Visit Seattle and decided to go for it, moving 3000 miles to start a new chapter of my life and career. The rest of the group made the move a year later, and we’ve never been happier.

Nerdy and Adventurous

I’m an ambivert, so it makes sense that I love cozying up with a good book or a low-key board game night with friends just as much as planning a hiking trip through Iceland. I relish the challenge of type 2 fun, but equally enjoy time in the pottery studio for a grounding, meditative afternoon. I care deeply about protecting the environment and human rights. I feel best when I’m surrounded by nature or on a plane to a new country.
